American artist Jay David Fisher has bee painting scenery, buildings, pets & portraits from Hawaii to New York for decades. A history major at CU Boulder, Jay has always been fascinated by with the striking beauty of historic buildings. Enter the Menominee Historical Society & Museum. After researching their historical archives the society foun an exciting black and white copy of the once magnificent Menominee Opera House. The way it first stood in all it's imposing granduer when built in 1902 - the pride of the community. Immediately Jay began to go to work, recreating the opera house in a beautiful original painting as it appeared all it's original splendor. Today, monies are raised with pencil signed prints of Jay's original painting, matted & ready for framing. An 11 x 14 print is $59.00 of which $20.00 is donated to the Opera House Reconstruction project. An 8 x 10 print is $39.00 with $10.00 donated to the project.





Jay will be the first to tell you his artistic talents are a natural gift, having "justhappened" when he was only 10 sketching "Sunday visiting relatives" on his parent's farm near Davenport, Iowa. Self-taught he began his young adult art career in LAin the 60's as a designer. Besides designing, Jay traveled and painted California, Hawaii (a Pacific Rim outlet for japanese tourists), the southwest, Mexico City, Miami and New York (for European collectors). In 2006 Jay and his wife moved back to his Midwestern roots to Marinette, WI to paint the beauty and history of Michigan's Upper Peninsula and northeast Wisconsin.
